Position Overview for Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Jobs in Lusaka
As a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, you will oversee the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of hospital data entered into electronic medical records (EMR) and reporting platforms such as Metabase. Your responsibilities include managing indicator tracking, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and utilizing dashboards to inform leadership decisions. You will also coordinate patient-reported outcome measures and ensure data integrity for analysis and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support collection and verification of patient-related data across EMR and reporting systems.
- Conduct routine data quality audits and ensure compliance with hospital data standards.
- Develop and implement plans to improve data quality in collaboration with departmental heads.
- Oversee preparation, validation, and cleaning of patient-reported outcome datasets.
- Promote data-informed decision-making by assisting departments in interpreting MELD data.
- Design, refine, and implement hospital-level M&E tools, dashboards, and data quality systems.
- Train and mentor staff on data quality procedures, dashboard use, and indicator tracking.
- Coordinate testing, rollout, and analysis of patient-reported outcome tools for quality improvement.
- Conduct data analysis and develop visualizations to support hospital leadership.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance monitoring, inspection, and evaluation processes.
- Prepare and disseminate MELD reports and findings to hospital leadership and stakeholders.
- Monitor service delivery indicators and identify operational challenges requiring management attention.
- Recommend strategies to the Network MELD Director and hospital leadership to improve MELD operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in healthcare data management, monitoring and evaluation, or hospital performance improvement.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks amid multiple demands and deadlines.
- Familiarity with health information systems or electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Basic proficiency in data analysis software such as R, SAS, SQL, or SPSS.
- Intermediate skills in data visualization tools including Tableau, PowerBI, or Metabase.
- Proven ability to lead system implementations and influence positive behavioral and attitudinal changes among staff.
- Energetic and positive approach to work with strong oral and written communication skills.
