About the Role: Management Accountant Jobs in Lusaka

The Management Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial and management reports, tracking and controlling production costs, preparing and monitoring budgets, and analyzing financial performance within the Hotels and Lodge operations. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the company’s financial health through detailed costing, fixed asset management, and insightful variance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Management Accounting and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive management accounting reports including financial statements and production cost analyses. Monitor weekly production variances, post data in Sage ERP, and present findings to management for informed decision-making.
• Budgeting and Expenditure Control: Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with various departments. Track monthly expenditures, highlight variances, and provide actionable recommendations. Deliver monthly financial forecasts and support re-forecasting efforts.
• Production Costing: Oversee production cost control to align with budget targets, conduct cost analyses to identify savings, and ensure accurate costing of raw materials, labor, and overhead.
• Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation. Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with capitalization policies.
• Operational Expenditure (Opex) Monitoring: Track and control operational expenses, collaborating with department heads to manage costs effectively.
• Stock and Inventory Control: Review stock reports weekly, verify stock movements in the ERP system, and conduct periodic stock audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Business Opportunity Analysis: Evaluate new business initiatives and product developments from a financial perspective, advising management on profitability and pricing strategies.
• ERP and Financial Systems Management: Ensure timely posting of all financial transactions in the ERP system and work closely with IT and finance teams to optimize system use.
• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Perform detailed financial analysis, identify trends and variances, and develop KPIs to support strategic business decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or equivalent professional qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Senior or Management Accountant, preferably within the service industry or related sectors.
• Strong expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with high attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
