Role Overview for Machine Specialist Jobs in Ndola
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain, repair, and optimize machinery and related equipment to maximize machine availability and ensure product quality, all while minimizing costs and adhering to safety and quality standards. You will play a key role in supporting shift teams and enhancing operational efficiency through expert problem-solving and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in maintenance planning meetings by offering suggestions and clarifying required tasks.
- Execute planned, routine, and opportunity maintenance according to schedules issued by the Maintenance Planner.
- Communicate promptly with the Maintenance Planner when scheduled work cannot be completed, assisting with rescheduling or prioritization.
- Support team members during maintenance windows and assist in resolving technical issues as needed.
- Complete all necessary administrative duties, including COSWIN system updates, related to planned and running repairs.
- Contribute to maintenance postmortems by providing feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Perform autonomous operations such as cleaning, lubrication, and inspection in line with maintenance schedules.
- Analyze machine performance, conduct loss and waste assessments, and develop actionable plans to enhance efficiency.
- Provide specialist technical support and guidance to shift-based teams during operations, including coaching and mentoring on machine operation and fault diagnosis.
- Assess the capabilities of Operators and Artisans and participate in plant optimization trials at regional and central levels.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and maintenance procedures, promoting a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Process Artisan, or Maintenance Artisan qualification is required.
- 3 to 4 years of experience as a technician, preferably with experience on cold glue labelling machines, is an advantage.
- Proficiency in computer use and maintenance software applications.
