Position Overview: Lifeguard Swim Coach Jobs in Lusaka

The successful Lifeguard/Swim Coach will be responsible for supervising all swimming activities, enforcing safety protocols, and providing expert coaching to develop students’ swimming abilities. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe aquatic environment and supporting the school’s swimming program, including galas and competitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise swimming sessions, ensuring strict adherence to pool rules, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Perform rescues for swimmers in distress and administer First Aid and CPR as needed.
  • Continuously assess pool and water conditions and respond swiftly to potential hazards.
  • Provide swimming instruction and coaching for beginners through to advanced swimmers.
  • Support the organisation and execution of swimming galas, competitions, and other aquatic events.
  • Inspect, maintain, and ensure the functionality of pool safety equipment.
  • Assist with pool operations including water testing, record-keeping, equipment inventories, and pool area cleanliness.
  • Maintain detailed records of incidents, accidents, and routine pool safety checks.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the wider school community.
  • Contribute to Physical Education activities during the swimming off-season as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in lifeguarding or swim coaching.
  • Recognised and valid lifeguard certification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong swimming, water rescue, and emergency response skills.
  • Proven ability to coach swimmers across a range of ages and skill levels.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student safety and safeguarding practices.
  • Willingness to work occasional extended hours, weekends, or public holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is an advantage but not essential.
