Role Overview for Legal Adviser Jobs in Lusaka

The Legal Advisers will play a critical role in supporting the company’s operations, projects, and management by providing expert legal and regulatory guidance. The successful candidates will ensure compliance with applicable laws, manage legal risks, and support contractual and corporate governance matters on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

Review, draft, and provide timely, accurate legal opinions on contracts and other legal documents.
Coordinate with external law firms, regulatory authorities, and relevant stakeholders on legal issues.
Advise various departments on operational and commercial legal matters.
Interpret applicable laws, regulations, rulings, and compliance requirements affecting company operations.
Monitor legal developments, particularly in construction, labour, corporate, and commercial law.
Support improvements in legal compliance, contract management, and risk mitigation strategies.
Assist in preparing legal reports, maintaining records, and ensuring proper filing of legal documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
Minimum of one year relevant experience, preferably in the construction or engineering sector.
Strong knowledge of Zambian civil law, company law, labour law, and related legislation.
Familiarity with standard construction contract conditions, especially FIDIC contracts.
Excellent legal drafting, contract review, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working in a multicultural environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
