About the Landscaper Role

Reporting directly to the Lodge Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, the landscaper will be responsible for a wide range of grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks. Your efforts will ensure that the lodge’s outdoor areas remain clean, attractive, and inviting throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities for Landscaper Jobs in Mumbwa

• Maintain lawns, gardens, pathways, and outdoor spaces to a high standard by mowing, trimming, pruning, and weeding regularly
• Water plants, flowers, and lawns using appropriate irrigation methods
• Plant and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, and other decorative vegetation
• Remove litter and keep all outdoor areas clean and presentable
• Assist with landscaping projects and prepare soil and planting areas for new vegetation
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and treatments safely when necessary
• Monitor plant health and report any pest or disease issues promptly
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment, ensuring safe storage and handling of chemicals
• Follow health and safety procedures rigorously and report any maintenance concerns immediately
• Collaborate with lodge staff to maintain a pleasant environment and respond efficiently to maintenance requests
• Maintain professionalism and positive communication with guests and staff at all times

Qualifications and Skills

• Certificate or training in Landscaping, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred
• Previous experience in landscaping, gardening, or grounds maintenance is advantageous
• Knowledge of plants, lawn care, and landscaping techniques
• Ability to safely use landscaping tools and equipment
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Flexible availability to work occasional weekends or holidays if required
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and order

Working Conditions and Expectations

This role involves working outdoors in the lodge environment, requiring physical stamina for standing, lifting, bending, and manual labor. You will be exposed to varying weather conditions and may occasionally work weekends or holidays to ensure the grounds remain in pristine condition. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining healthy plants and gardens, ensuring a clean and safe outdoor setting, and demonstrating professional conduct within the team.
