About the Laboratory Technician Role

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive physical and chemical analyses of raw materials, clinker, and finished cement products. The position demands precision in testing, routine calibration of laboratory instruments, and strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Your work will directly impact product quality and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities for Laboratory Technician Jobs in Lusaka

• Collect and analyze samples of raw materials such as limestone, clay, gypsum, and coal.
• Conduct quality tests on clinker and cement, including Lime Saturation Factor (LSF), Silica Modulus, and Alumina Modulus assessments.
• Perform physical tests such as Blaine fineness, setting time, soundness, and compressive strength evaluations.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and titrators.
• Calibrate laboratory instruments regularly and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
• Monitor production quality and provide timely feedback to operational teams.
• Ensure laboratory practices comply with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory reports.
• Maintain laboratory safety, cleanliness, and proper waste disposal in accordance with Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) guidelines.

Candidate Requirements

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with credits in English, Mathematics, and Science.
• Diploma or Degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemical Engineering, or Applied Chemistry.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing laboratory, preferably in cement, mining, or related industries.
• Strong expertise in chemical analysis and wet chemistry techniques.
• Good understanding of cement manufacturing processes and quality control procedures.
• Familiarity with Zambian standards and regulatory requirements.
