About the Role

This full-time position is based at our Chingola laboratory and reports directly to the Lab Manager. ALS operates around the clock, requiring flexibility to work shifts and varied hours. The successful candidate will support sample processing and contribute to maintaining the high standards of laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities for Laboratory Analyst Jobs in Chingola

• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental protocols, ensuring safe handling of chemicals and hazardous substances.
• Operate and maintain sequential and simultaneous XRF instruments, including troubleshooting and fault resolution.
• Plan and execute method development and validation of new XRF methods in collaboration with management.
• Provide technical support and training to laboratory staff and supervise new operators.
• Organize and prioritize sample analysis and workload efficiently using GEMS software, ensuring timely data reporting.
• Maintain accurate records of instrument performance and laboratory maintenance in compliance with ISO 17025 standards.
• Monitor quality control charts, investigate incidents, and address non-conformances promptly.
• Coordinate with the Production Coordinator and external service engineers to schedule maintenance and minimize equipment downtime.
• Assist other laboratory departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

• Sound knowledge of XRF instrumentation principles and operation.
• Competent in operating AA, ICP, Spark OES, and XRF analysis equipment.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• In-depth understanding of classical wet chemistry and geochemical digestion methods.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory, preferably within XRF or instrumentation sections.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
