About the Kitchen Hand Role

Reporting directly to the Head Chef, the Kitchen Hand will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen. This position demands dedication to ensuring all kitchen utensils, equipment, and workspaces are impeccably clean, safe, and ready for daily operations.

Key Responsibilities for Kitchen Hand Jobs in Lusaka

• Wash and prepare all utensils, cutlery, and crockery to be ready for use
• Clean kitchen equipment including ovens, deep fat fryers, mixers, refrigerators, and freezers
• Maintain clean and dry kitchen floors at all times to ensure safety
• Manage waste disposal and keep garbage bins clean and hygienic
• Perform scheduled deep cleaning and disinfection tasks according to established protocols
• Follow the daily cleaning checklist to uphold kitchen standards
• Store and handle cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly
• Execute daily assignments as directed by the Head Chef
• Adhere strictly to all safety and hygiene policies and procedures
• Practice the “clean as you go” approach to maintain a tidy work environment
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a full Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years relevant experience working in a kitchen or hospitality environment
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene best practices
