Role Overview for Junior Accountant Jobs in Lusaka
The Junior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and insolvency regulations. This position supports timely financial reporting, safeguards client assets, and assists in financial restructuring or liquidation processes when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping and process financial transactions efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Recommend improvements to financial processes and internal controls.
- Manage invoicing, payments, and collections, including timely follow-up on receivables.
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Advise clients on insolvency options and assess their financial positions.
- Ensure compliance with insolvency laws and regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Part-qualified or currently pursuing professional accounting certifications such as ZICA or ACCA.
- Between 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience or a strong internship background.
Essential Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Strong communication and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
