Role Overview: IT Support Engineer Jobs in Kalumbila
As an IT Support Engineer, you will provide comprehensive IT infrastructure support and services across Trident Mine Sites, TWE Estate, Kalumbila Town, and other regional offices in Zambia. You will serve as the first point of contact for all onsite IT queries, ensuring timely resolution in line with established service level agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PCs, laptops, printers, and other IT peripherals.
- Install, upgrade, and configure software and hardware, including desk and mobile phones, printers, and projectors.
- Log and manage all IT issues using the service desk management tool, monitoring trends to recommend process improvements.
- Plan, organize, and follow up on tasks within the team, escalating or handing over issues as necessary.
- Keep users informed about the status of their IT requests and any service disruptions.
- Develop and maintain IT support policies, documentation, trackers, and records.
- Manage hardware asset and software license inventories, including backup tape management.
- Document relevant knowledge articles and “How to” procedures for end users.
- Assist with or manage IT projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget compliance, and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with regional support teams to resolve customer requests efficiently.
- Provide systems analysis to assess user needs and recommend approved solutions aligned with company policies.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in IT workspaces, server rooms, and racks, including cable management and labeling.

Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience across a broad range of IT disciplines.
- Advanced knowledge of hardware, software, desktop support, and communications systems.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-level IT environments.
- Familiarity with formal change control and IT service management practices.
- Experience with material management, inventories, and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of LAN technologies and peripherals such as network printers and video conferencing units.
- Exposure to multicultural work environments, preferably within the mining or resource sector.
Educational and Professional Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Relevant IT certifications such as A+, Network+, Server+, or MCSE.
- ITIL experience and understanding is desirable.
- Current driving license.
- Membership with ICTAZ (Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia).
