Role Overview for Internal Audit Officer Jobs in Lusaka

The Internal Audit Officer will play a critical role in reviewing governance systems to ensure integrity, effectiveness, and compliance of internal controls and processes. The objective is to mitigate risks, enhance operational efficiency, and safeguard the Authority’s assets.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Control Evaluation: Conduct periodic assessments of internal controls and procedures to ensure their adequacy, reduce fraud risks, and promote compliance with policies and standards.
Audit Planning and Execution: Assist in developing and implementing audit plans covering financial, operational, ICT, compliance, and specialized processes to identify risks and control weaknesses.
Audit Reporting: Regularly communicate audit findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to management and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies or gaps in processes and recommend enhancements to improve operational effectiveness.
Fraud Detection and Prevention: Implement measures to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activities, protecting organizational assets and integrity.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with management, departments, and external auditors to ensure transparency and alignment on audit findings and risk assessments.
Audit Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality assurance processes to uphold audit standards and ensure accuracy and reliability of reports.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Track performance indicators periodically to support evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
Reporting: Participate in preparing and submitting mandatory operational reports to monitor audit activities and outcomes.
Performance Management: Develop and implement individual work plans to integrate and enhance employee performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 School Certificate (Full-Form V)
Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or full professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA-CA
Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
Minimum of three years’ relevant post-qualification experience in internal or external audit
