Zambia Sugar Plc, a proud member of the ABF Group and Zambia’s foremost sugar producer, is currently inviting applications for skilled professionals to join its Manufacturing Department at Nakambala Estate, Mazabuka. We are specifically looking for qualified candidates interested in instrument technician jobs in Mazabuka to fill critical roles within our team.
Available Position: Instrument Technician (Full Time, Permanent)
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Foreman – Instruments, the Instrument Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance of pneumatic and mechanical instrumentation systems throughout the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough plant inspections to detect and diagnose equipment defects
- Install, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation systems to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Optimize control loops through precise tuning and adjustments
- Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical instruments and components
- Ensure all equipment operates safely and complies with regulatory and company standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and enhance maintenance reliability
- Prepare detailed maintenance reports and provide timely feedback
- Collaborate closely with operations and process optimization teams
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering
- At least 2 years’ experience in a heavy industry environment
- Proven experience in industrial instrumentation
- Experience in the sugar industry is advantageous
- Membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
- ZAQA verified qualifications are mandatory
Handyman Welder – Instrumentation (Full Time, Permanent)
Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman – Instrumentation, the Handyman Welder will assist in the fabrication, welding, installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation systems and associated equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute welding and fabrication tasks with precision and safety
- Install instrumentation equipment and supporting structures
- Repair and service instrumentation valves and motion sensors
- Assist with maintenance and breakdown response activities
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the workshop
- Support management of stores and spare parts inventory
- Contribute to continuous improvement and maintenance programs
- Ensure strict adherence to SHEQ procedures and company policies
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Level 1 / Grade 5 Trade Certificate in Metal Fabrication/Welding
- Experience in welding and fabrication is an asset
- Knowledge of servicing instrumentation valves and motion sensors
- Membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
- ZAQA verified qualifications are required
