In partnership with Liebherr Zambia Limited, part of the global Liebherr Mining Division, we are launching a Technical Excellence Programme focused on developing specialists in heavy equipment maintenance and servicing.
Position Overview for Instructor Jobs in Chongwe Lusaka
The successful candidate will deliver both theoretical and practical training in mobile industrial high-voltage systems, instrumentation, controls, automation, diagnostics, and safe high-voltage operations. Reporting to the Head of School, this full-time role is integral to the 4 Year Liebherr Zambia Apprenticeship Program, equipping trainees with essential skills for the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans covering diesel engine technology, hydraulic systems, drivetrain systems, telematics, diagnostics, and maintenance principles.
- Conduct classroom and workshop training on high-voltage safety, isolation, switching, and commissioning procedures.
- Provide instruction on instrumentation, sensors, CANBUS, control systems, and diagnostic methodologies.
- Supervise practical high-voltage exercises and fault-finding activities.
- Conduct assessments and maintain compliance and training documentation.
- Support development of laboratories and simulators while ensuring regulatory and safety compliance.
- Guide trainees in electrical and electronic diagnostics, including the use of diagnostic software and measurement equipment.
- Coordinate with workplace mentors to support on-the-job learning and validate apprentice logbooks and workplace evidence.
- Participate in apprentice progress reviews, moderation processes, audits, and accreditation activities.
- Coach and develop apprentices, supervise workshop training, and assess competence against defined standards.
Work Environment
- Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, excluding public holidays.
- Training workshops and laboratories with occasional outdoor or industrial partner facility visits.
- Exposure to heavy equipment and outdoor fieldwork, requiring standing and supervising trainees for extended periods.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- Diploma in Teaching Methodology.
- Registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
- Minimum six years of relevant experience in OEM or mining maintenance industries.
- At least one year of instructional experience.
Skills and Certifications
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty equipment systems.
- Proven instructional and facilitation skills, including coaching and mentorship.
- Competency in assessment and evaluation methods.
- Proficient in Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), virtual training platforms (Teams, Zoom), and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Advantageous certifications include TEVETA Instructor Accreditation, Train-the-Trainer, Occupational Health & Safety, and Assessor Certification.
