HUACHEN INTERNATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN LIMITED is actively seeking a qualified Hydropower Manager to join our Construction Department in Ndola, Copperbelt, Zambia. Position Overview: Hydropower Manager (X1) – Ndola, Sakania

The Hydropower Manager will oversee the company’s hydropower construction projects and ensure the efficient management of water and electricity equipment during both planned projects and emergency maintenance. This role requires close collaboration with Chinese engineers to plan, budget, and comply with local regulatory requirements while leading a skilled team of engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities for Hydropower Manager Jobs in Ndola

• Manage and maintain water and electricity equipment during company projects and emergency fault repairs.
• Assist Chinese engineers in planning, budgeting, and applying for approvals from local authorities such as ZESCO, WARMA, and Local Water Utilities.
• Support the development of annual electricity consumption and consumables approval plans.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian water and electricity construction regulations.
• Independently oversee ongoing hydropower construction projects, assigning tasks and supervising assistant engineers to meet project deadlines.
• Lead skill training and development initiatives for local hydropower construction teams.
• Collaborate on the management and follow-up of the proposed 320kwp photovoltaic project.

Essential Requirements

• Proven practical skills in water and electricity maintenance and installation operations.
• Strong safety awareness with the ability to identify potential equipment hazards.
• Experienced in repairing switch circuits and managing unexpected breakdowns.
• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and a high sense of responsibility.
• Familiarity with maintenance, repair, safe operation, and troubleshooting of generators, photovoltaics, transformers, water pumps, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of photovoltaic substation construction standards and processes.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new construction standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Ability to independently develop construction plans, understand local material markets, and create cost-effective hydropower project plans.
• Experience in developing and implementing skills training and management plans for local teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in water and electricity construction, installation, and maintenance, with at least 6 years in a managerial role.
• Successful management and completion of at least five hydropower construction projects, leading teams of 30 or more members.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, CAD, and capable of interpreting electrical construction drawings and schematics.
• Established network with material suppliers and relevant Power and Water authorities.
• Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia is required.
• Willingness to reside on-site at the company yard or construction locations during projects.
• Residency in Ndola or willingness to relocate.
