Role Overview – Human Resources Practitioner Jobs in Chingola

As the Human Resources Practitioner, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of HR functions within our Zambian operations. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating HR strategies, ensuring compliance with company policies, and fostering positive employee relations. You will serve as the key liaison for HR matters, maintaining alignment with organizational goals and local labor legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Policies and Procedures: Develop, interpret, and communicate HR policies to ensure understanding and compliance among line management and employees. Monitor adherence and report any deviations.
  • Recruitment Management: Oversee the entire recruitment process from job requisition to onboarding, maintain an updated vacancy list, and ensure recruitment aligns with company planning and approvals.
  • Discipline and Grievance Handling: Manage disciplinary matters proactively, provide guidance during hearings, handle grievance cases promptly, and prepare documentation for conciliation and arbitration in compliance with policies and local requirements.
  • Union Engagement: Facilitate effective communication with unions and associations, organise meetings including agenda preparation and minute-taking, and ensure compliance with collective agreements and labor laws.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Honors Degree in Human Resources Management
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ operational HR experience
  • Experience in the mining or construction sectors is advantageous

Skills and Attributes

  • Medically fit according to company standards
  • Strong conflict resolution and people management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial relations
