Position Overview for Human Resources Officer Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll processing, and employee relations. You will ensure compliance with the Employment Code Act and other relevant labour legislation, while maintaining accurate personnel records and preparing necessary statutory submissions. This role demands a proactive approach to managing employee performance, grievances, and workplace harmony within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment processes, employee onboarding, and maintain comprehensive personnel records.
• Process monthly payroll and efficiently manage the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
• Prepare and submit statutory returns, including NAPSA, NHIMA, Workers’ Compensation, and PAYE.
• Ensure full compliance with the Employment Code Act and other applicable labour laws.
• Handle employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution.
• Administer leave management, performance evaluations, and other HR-related functions.
• Compile HR reports and maintain up-to-date and accurate personnel documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management or a related discipline; a Bachelor’s Degree is advantageous.
• At least three years of practical experience in Human Resource Management.
• Thorough knowledge and application of Zambian labour laws.
• Proven experience in payroll administration and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
• Familiarity with preparing statutory returns such as NAPSA, NHIMA, Workers’ Compensation, and PAYE.
• Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Registered and fully paid-up member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
