About the Role: Human Resource Administration Manager Jobs in Lusaka
Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Human Resource & Administration Manager will lead the development and execution of HR strategies that align with the school’s goals. This senior management role requires an accomplished HR generalist capable of managing a comprehensive HR function within a complex organisational setting.
The main responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing HR initiatives aligned with the School’s strategic priorities.
- Advising senior leadership on workforce planning, organisational design, employee relations, and compliance risks.
- Leading investigations, disciplinary actions, grievance procedures, and performance management processes.
- Developing, reviewing, and enforcing HR policies, Conditions of Service, and related procedures.
- Managing recruitment, safer recruitment compliance, onboarding, probation, succession planning, and offboarding processes.
- Overseeing employment contracts, payroll, benefits, leave management, insurance, employee records, and HR reporting.
- Ensuring adherence to Zambian employment laws, safeguarding standards, professional requirements, and internal policies.
- Utilising workforce data and HR systems to improve planning, decision-making, and service delivery.
- Leading and mentoring HR and administrative teams to foster a professional, accountable, and inclusive culture.
- Managing administrative and support services, including contracts, statutory compliance, and operational coordination.
- Preparing detailed reports and recommendations for senior leadership and the School Board as needed.
Qualifications and Experience Required for Human Resource Administration Manager Jobs in Lusaka
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Organisational Psychology, or a closely related field. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines must hold a recognised postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management.
- Current membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) and a valid practising certificate.
- A minimum of ten years of progressive HR generalist experience.
- At least five years in a senior HR management or leadership role with organisation-wide accountability.
- At least three years’ experience leading HR personnel and multidisciplinary administrative teams.
- Strong background advising executive leadership on employee relations, compliance, and organisational matters.
- Proven expertise in performance management systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Zambian employment legislation and modern HR practices.
- Experience in workforce planning, recruitment, policy development, remuneration, benefits administration, HR reporting, and organisational development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to independently produce policies, reports, formal correspondence, and executive recommendations.
- A relevant master’s degree and/or experience working in multicultural environments is advantageous.
