Key Responsibilities for HSE Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits to mitigate risks.
• Ensure full compliance with company HSE standards and relevant statutory requirements.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed investigation reports with actionable corrective measures.
• Deliver employee safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing HSE awareness training sessions.
• Monitor adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols and safe work procedures.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation, including records, registers, and statutory paperwork.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, such as drills and first aid arrangements.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace health, safety, and environmental performance.
• Collaborate closely with supervisors and management to uphold a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
• At least one year of relevant experience in manufacturing, production, processing, FMCG, or similar operational environments.
• Registered membership with the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA) or another recognized professional body.
• Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Proven experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and workplace safety inspections.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid driver’s license.
