Key Responsibilities for HSE Coordinator Jobs in Zambia
- General HSE Management and Risk Assessment: Promote occupational health and safety; ensure compliance with relevant legislation; supervise accident investigations; analyze causes and recommend corrective actions; disseminate lessons learned and best practices; coordinate emergency response teams including mine rescue, firefighting, and first aid; maintain updated hazard identification and risk assessment records; verify the adequacy and effectiveness of control measures.
- Operational Control, Certification, and Training: Advocate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for non-routine activities, ensuring understanding and application; identify risks associated with each step of these activities; participate in the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine tasks; conduct training for personnel on SOPs; supervise weekly inspections and ensure equipment certification in line with legislation; monitor training needs and deliver health and safety training programs.
- HSE Performance Monitoring: Collect and analyze HSE performance data; prepare monthly reports on key safety indicators.
- Incident Management and 5S Methodology Implementation: Report and investigate incidents and accidents; propose corrective actions; oversee the implementation and follow-up of the 5S methodology including area inspections and monthly audits.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Health, Safety & Environment or related discipline; NEBOSH Diploma is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards; lead auditor certification is an advantage.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in HSE roles.
- At least three years of supervisory or managerial experience on mining sites.
