New Fairmount Hotel, located in Livingstone, Southern Province, Zambia, is seeking a qualified and experienced human resources practitioner to join our team. We invite applications for this full-time position from professionals accredited by the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute strategically and operationally to our HR functions while supporting senior executives and management.

Position Overview for HR Practitioner Jobs in Livingstone

Reporting directly to the Senior Executives and Senior Management Team, the HR Practitioner will lead and manage our HR department to help achieve the hotel’s strategic business objectives. This role requires an effective advisor and communicator who can guide on HR policies, best practices, employment rewards, benefits, and relevant legislation. The successful candidate will foster a positive and supportive work environment that enables employees to consistently perform at high standards.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic Credentials: Degree in Human Resources Management and/or a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of senior-level HR practitioner experience, preferably within the hospitality sector, demonstrating expertise across recruitment, performance management, talent development, reward systems, and employee relations.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to provide strategic HR leadership while managing day-to-day HR administration effectively.
  • Professional Membership: Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Zambia labour laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of HR issues related to gender, inclusion, and diversity.
  • Strong grasp of HR policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional managerial capabilities with the ability to motivate and inspire HR teams.
  • Independent problem-solving skills with sound judgment on when to escalate issues to senior management.
  • High analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proficiency in performance management and change facilitation.
  • Excellent listening, coaching, and counselling skills.
