Role Summary for HR Generalist Jobs in Kitwe

Reporting directly to the Head of Operations/CEO, the HR Generalist will oversee daily human resource operations throughout the employee lifecycle. This role ensures strict adherence to Zambian labor laws, supports recruitment and onboarding, manages benefits administration, and promotes a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Legal Compliance: Ensure all employment policies, disciplinary procedures, and terminations comply with the Zambian Employment Code Act, 2019.
• Statutory & Payroll Coordination: Collaborate with finance to maintain accurate employee records and ensure timely compliance with NAPSA, NHIMA, PAYE, and Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board requirements.
• Recruitment & Hiring: Manage the full recruitment cycle, including drafting employment contracts and executing comprehensive onboarding programs.
• Employee Relations: Address employee grievances, lead internal disciplinary committees, and document labor dispute hearings in accordance with local regulations.
• Leave & Welfare Management: Monitor statutory leave entitlements such as annual, sick, maternity, paternity, and compassionate leave.
• Workplace Policy Implementation: Enforce workplace codes of conduct emphasizing health, safety, wellness, and anti-harassment standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Professional Registration: Must be a paid-up member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) with a current and valid practicing license.
• Education: Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years progressive HR experience within Zambia.
• Sector Experience: Prior experience in the Mining industry or Non-Banking Financial Services (NBFI) sector is advantageous.
• Legal Expertise: Strong understanding of the Employment Code Act of 2019 and the Industrial and Labour Relations Act.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with local HRIS or payroll systems.
