Role Overview for Heavy Duty Mechanic Jobs in Mazabuka

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at SYRINGA ENTERPRISE, you will play a vital role in maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, and off-road equipment. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing repairs to keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently.

You will collaborate closely with the workshop manager and fellow mechanics to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs, maintain accurate service records, and manage parts inventory. This position demands a proactive approach to vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance, and compliance with relevant safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle components in coordination with the workshop team
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid replacements, brake servicing, and other preventative tasks
• Conduct test drives and diagnostic inspections to identify and resolve vehicle issues
• Maintain and organize parts inventory, ensuring timely ordering and storage of supplies
• Prepare detailed maintenance reports and repair estimates for clients and management
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and ready for use
• Inspect internal vehicle systems to verify operational safety and regulatory compliance
• Keep accurate records of client interactions, vehicle history, and parts usage

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate or higher qualification in Motor Vehicle Technician or Automotive Mechanics from a recognized technical institute or college
• Minimum of three years practical experience as an auto mechanic
• Comprehensive knowledge of automotive systems affecting vehicle operation
• Experience working with a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, vans, and off-road machines
• Certification as a Mechanical Technician is advantageous
• Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean employment record
• Familiarity with vehicle inspection and repair standards
• Willingness to relocate to Mazabuka if not currently residing in the area
• Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is required
