About the Role: Head of Operations Jobs in Lusaka

In this role, you will provide strong leadership and coordination across administrative functions, business planning, accounting, and budgeting efforts within ASA Microfinance Zambia. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance internal processes and infrastructure to support the continued growth and mission fulfillment of ASA Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Regional, Area, and Branch Managers to ensure smooth branch operations.
  • Drive business growth through strategic market activations and identifying geographic expansion opportunities.
  • Maintain operational efficiency by optimizing costs and ensuring adequate staffing levels across branches.
  • Develop and implement best practice frameworks benchmarked against industry competitors.
  • Foster a culture of leadership, human capital development, and coaching within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Oversee policy development, operational controls, and quality standards to enhance organizational performance.
  • Manage business plans, annual budgets, and deliver measurable, cost-effective results.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to improve operational workflows.
  • Monitor loan portfolio quality and prepare performance reports for the CEO and Board.
  • Analyze monthly results against budgets and objectives, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support ASA Zambia’s strategic goals.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 5 to 10 years of proven experience in a similar role, preferably within Microfinance Institutions (MFI), FinTech, Telecom, or Banking sectors.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
