Key Responsibilities for Hardware and Services Manager Jobs in Lusaka

• Hardware Supply & Lifecycle Management: Oversee procurement, inventory control, and distribution of ICT hardware including servers, desktops, laptops, tablets, and peripherals. Manage asset lifecycle from acquisition through disposal while tracking warranties and ensuring compliance. Coordinate with vendors regarding quotations, delivery, and support agreements. Maintain an accurate asset register aligned with budgets and project requirements.
• Installation & Field Services: Plan and supervise hardware installations, upgrades, and relocations at client sites. Ensure correct device configuration, including BIOS setup, operating system installation, and driver updates. Manage peripheral setups such as printers, scanners, and monitors, while ensuring installations meet performance, security, and ergonomic standards.
• Technical Support & Maintenance: Lead the team in diagnosing and resolving hardware issues. Implement preventive maintenance schedules and perform health checks on critical equipment. Ensure prompt response to service tickets and field support requests. Manage warranty claims, repairs, and replacements in collaboration with vendors and OEMs.
• Compliance & Security: Enforce hardware security protocols including device encryption, BIOS passwords, and physical access controls. Maintain compliance with asset tagging, audit readiness, and disposal procedures. Support the integration of endpoint protection and device management tools.
• Team Leadership & Client Engagement: Manage and mentor hardware technicians and field engineers by defining roles and KPIs. Allocate resources efficiently for installations, support calls, and maintenance visits. Engage with clients to understand their hardware needs, resolve issues promptly, and ensure overall satisfaction. Prepare reports on hardware performance, support metrics, and inventory status.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ICT hardware management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong expertise in hardware components, device configuration, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience using asset management systems, ticketing platforms, and vendor coordination processes.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and mobile operating systems.
• Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL, or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo) are advantageous.
