Position Overview: Handyman Jobs in Lusaka

As a Handyman / Maintenance Technician at Makeni Institute Trust, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of our buildings, equipment, and machinery. Your expertise will support routine and emergency maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and facilities.
• Carry out plumbing repairs, including managing water supply and drainage systems.
• Diagnose and resolve basic electrical faults and installations.
• Undertake mechanical fitting and service machinery and equipment.
• Conduct carpentry, painting, welding, and other general maintenance tasks as needed.
• Carry out regular inspections to identify maintenance requirements and prevent breakdowns.
• Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance emergencies.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety standards in all maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or craft qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, General Maintenance, Building Maintenance, or a related technical field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of three years’ practical experience in building or facility maintenance.
• Proven knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, metal fabrication, mechanical fitting, and general repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals is an advantage.
• Possession of a valid driver’s licence is desirable.
