Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

As a Gun Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining efficient slurry operations by handling water guns in accordance with site protocols and safety standards. Your responsibilities will include:

• Strictly adhering to site-specific schedules and shift times to ensure operational continuity.
• Participating in daily safety talks and conducting risk assessments before each shift.
• Inspecting and reporting on high-pressure water lines and equipment condition within the battery limits.
• Preparing and relocating water guns, including disconnecting and reconnecting pipes as required.
• Monitoring water pressure readings and managing gun operation during hosing processes.
• Collaborating closely with Pump Operators to regulate water levels in dams by operating valves known as lollipops.
• Controlling slurry density and completing any additional tasks assigned by supervisors within your scope of responsibility.
• Maintaining accurate timekeeping and reporting.

Health, Safety, and Housekeeping

Safety is paramount in this role. You will be expected to:

• Follow all written safe work procedures and site emergency protocols as trained.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task.
• Maintain a high level of emergency preparedness and promptly report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Participate actively in all safety training sessions.
• Practice good housekeeping by keeping pump areas clean and storing equipment properly.
• Conduct basic inspections of guns and report any defects immediately.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Gun Operator Jobs in Chingola

Candidates interested in this role should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Grade 12 (School Certificate) or equivalent.
• At least one year of relevant experience in mining, construction, transport, plant hire, or manufacturing within the mining industry.
• On-the-job training experience with water guns is advantageous.
