Our client requires a Grants Officer responsible for overseeing the entire grant lifecycle—from identifying funding opportunities and preparing compelling proposals to managing compliance and reporting during project implementation. This role is essential to sustaining the organization’s growth and impact through effective grant management.

Key Responsibilities of the Grants Officer

  • Conduct market analysis to identify new grant and tender opportunities relevant to the organization’s objectives.
  • Develop and maintain an Annual Grants Plan documenting all funding applications and outcomes.
  • Prepare and consolidate comprehensive grant proposals, coordinating inputs from various departments to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Manage a repository of all supporting documentation required by funders and maintain a Grant Tracking Tool to monitor progress, compliance, and performance.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel to facilitate contracting processes for grants and subsidies.
  • Organize monthly stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment and provide ongoing support for governance forums and strategy execution tracking.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience with a strong understanding of grant management processes.
  • Ability to critically assess proposals, identify financial and operational risks, and offer evidence-based recommendations.
  • Interest in renewable energy and rural electrification initiatives within Africa.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

Compensation and Application Details

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position based in Lusaka, Zambia.
