Role Purpose: Graduate Trainee – Finance & Accounts
The Graduate Trainee will support the Finance team by assisting with accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, treasury functions, compliance, and administrative duties. This structured programme is designed to offer hands-on experience and mentorship, preparing you for professional qualifications such as CA Zambia, ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA, and fostering your long-term career growth in finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and post daily financial transactions accurately into the accounting system.
- Maintain cashbook, petty cash, and general ledger with precision.
- Conduct daily reconciliations of cash, bank accounts, and mobile money transactions.
- Assist in preparing payment vouchers and securing necessary approvals.
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register consistently.
- Assist with internal and external audit procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Support financial data analysis and report generation.
- Help meet regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Finance Department as needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking & Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
- Recent graduate with no more than two years of post-graduation experience.
- Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Registration or progress towards CA Zambia, ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
- Familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
- Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
- High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
