Role Overview: Geologist

The Geologist will play a critical role in supporting mining and exploration operations through detailed geological surveys, data analysis, and interpretation. Collaboration with geologists and data scientists will be essential to ensure accurate geological modelling and resource estimation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and logging activities across company properties.
• Plan and execute exploration programs to identify mineral deposits.
• Acquire geological data and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
• Monitor drilling and exploration programs to ensure quality and safety compliance.
• Manage ore control and support mining operations.
• Estimate mineral resources and reserves with precision.
• Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Lead initiatives to reduce and control ore dilution and loss.
• Identify and develop viable metal opportunities, including near-mine resource development.

Qualifications and Experience

• A recognised tertiary qualification in Geoscience, such as a Degree in Geology or a related field.
• Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) is required.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in mining and exploration environments.

Technical Expertise and Skills

• Proficient in geological data collection and database management.
• Strong knowledge of geology, modelling, and problem-solving techniques.
• Experience with geostatistics and ore control methodologies.
• Excellent management and leadership capabilities, including motivation, goal setting, and decision-making.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify trends and plan for the long term.
• Familiarity with production software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, Surpac, and mine scheduling software is advantageous.
