About the Role: General Manager Jobs in Zambia

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will provide transformational leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the effective execution of IDC’s vision and mission. This full-time role is based in Zambia and requires a leader capable of steering the company towards sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Drive institutional performance, operational excellence, and foster a high-performance culture aligned with corporate priorities.
Financial Management: Oversee financial sustainability, including budgeting, liquidity, profitability, and compliance with accounting standards.
Corporate Strategy & Policy: Translate vision into actionable strategies; lead modernization of tea processing and agricultural production systems.
Governance, Risk & Compliance: Strengthen governance frameworks, manage risks, coordinate audits, and maintain business continuity plans.
Board & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain productive relationships with the Board and key stakeholders, representing the company in sectoral forums and government engagements.
Marketing & Business Development: Lead marketing strategies, enhance brand positioning, and explore new business opportunities including export markets.
Operational Excellence & Human Capital: Ensure efficient operations, promote staff development, and align HR practices with company strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 Certificate is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science, Business Administration, Production Management, or related field.
Master’s Degree (MBA or relevant field) is an advantage.
Professional membership in a relevant institution is preferred.
At least 10 years of senior management experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, agro-processing, FMCG, or related sectors.

Core Skills

Strategic planning and business transformation expertise.
Financial analysis, forecasting, and corporate budgeting proficiency.
Stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Risk identification, mitigation, and governance oversight capabilities.
Operational management experience in manufacturing or agro-processing environments.
Knowledge of agricultural value-chain management is desirable.
