Key Responsibilities for General Manager Jobs in Manyonyo

• Lead the development and execution of strategic plans, annual work plans, budgets, and growth initiatives, in alignment with Board directives.
• Manage day-to-day sugarcane production and all related farming and business activities to meet production targets and maintain crop quality.
• Ensure efficient use of resources to achieve yield, cost control, and financial objectives.
• Oversee financial stewardship including budgeting, cash flow management, audits, and statutory compliance.
• Maintain operational and financial controls to protect company assets such as crops, infrastructure, machinery, and inventory.
• Supervise maintenance and effective utilization of irrigation systems, roads, drainage, machinery, and vehicles.
• Lead, develop, and motivate employees by setting clear expectations, supporting training, and fostering a productive and fair work environment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, health and safety standards, and company policies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the Board, shareholder-farmers, Zambia Sugar Plc, suppliers, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for farm expansion, productivity improvement, financing, diversification, and enhanced commercial performance.
• Maintain accurate operational, financial, employee, and corporate records, and provide timely reports to the Board.
• Implement Board resolutions and keep the Board informed of material risks and developments.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Proven success in managing agricultural or agribusiness operations at senior or general management levels.
• Strong business acumen with expertise in strategic planning, financial management, budgeting, and operational oversight.
• Experience leading teams and managing farming operations, assets, suppliers, and customer relationships.
• Knowledge of commercial agriculture, irrigation, or sugarcane production is highly advantageous; experience with smallholder farmers is also beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, computer literacy, and ability to prepare clear reports for a Board of Directors.
• A valid driver’s license is an asset.
• High standards of integrity, accountability, fairness, and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in English and willingness to live and work in the Manyonyo/Chikankata area.
