About the Fruit and Veg Assistant Role

As a Fruit & Veg Assistant at Choppies, you will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and presentation of fresh fruit and vegetables. Your responsibilities will focus on ensuring produce is attractively displayed, properly labeled, and well-stocked to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrange appealing displays to encourage customer purchases.
• Ensure all produce is accurately priced and clearly labeled.
• Conduct daily inventory counts and promptly report any shortages.
• Dispose of spoiled produce responsibly while recording wastage.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and verify quality against supplier invoices.
• Support preparation of seasonal fruit and vegetable displays.
• Provide customers with information on storage, preparation, and nutritional benefits of produce.
• Adhere to workplace safety protocols when handling equipment and stock.
• Maintain records related to stock rotation, cleaning, and quality control.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate or Diploma in Food, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in fruit and vegetable production or retail operations.
• Basic knowledge of handling and preparing fruits and vegetables.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physically and medically fit to perform job duties.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
