Huachen International Supply Chain (Tera Fleet Management) Limited is seeking a qualified Fleet Operations Manager to join our Flat & Acid Fleet Department in Ndola, Copperbelt, Zambia. This full-time position offers a competitive monthly salary of ZMW 25,000 to ZMW 30,000 and is ideal for an experienced professional eager to contribute to efficient and safe fleet operations across local and cross-border routes.

Position Overview for Fleet Operations Manager Jobs in Ndola

Reporting directly to senior management, the Fleet Operations Manager will oversee the company’s fleet and staff operations. The role requires managing vehicle dispatch, fuel control, cost monitoring, compliance with transport policies, and maintenance coordination. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and secure delivery of cargo, particularly across routes between Zambia and mining sites in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Dispatch and Route Management: Lead fleet dispatch and route planning within Zambia and cross-border operations, ensuring safe and punctual cargo delivery. Develop emergency response protocols for incidents such as breakdowns, accidents, and checkpoint detentions.
• Fuel Management: Control fuel issuance and regularly audit refuelling data to prevent theft and unauthorized resale.
• Cost Control: Monitor all fleet-related expenses including tolls and statutory charges, ensuring proper documentation and optimizing cargo handling to reduce delays.
• Policy Compliance & Asset Management: Manage transport permits, oversee accident claims processes, and maximize insurance recoveries.
• Local Team Leadership: Implement management policies, driver training, and performance assessment systems. Collaborate with HR for recruitment, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution.
• Vehicle Maintenance Coordination: Work with the in-house workshop to schedule preventive maintenance for heavy-duty trucks and audit repair reports to prevent losses.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Transport & Logistics Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related fields.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in cross-border fleet management or logistics/transportation.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks such as Sinotruk Howo, Shacman, and FAW.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, with ability to produce detailed operational reports and data analyses.
• Membership in the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (ZCILT) is mandatory.
• Residency in Ndola or willingness to relocate.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• In-depth knowledge of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Zambia transport routes, including toll stations and inspection points.
• Strong leadership, responsibility, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Familiarity with local traffic laws, insurance claims, and traffic police procedures.
• Excellent stress management and crisis response skills, with a high level of integrity and hands-on management experience.

Compensation

Gross monthly salary: ZMW 25,000 to ZMW 30,000
