Key Responsibilities of the Fleet Manager Role

The Fleet Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining exceptional customer focus by providing timely and accurate tracking reports and managing client expectations through effective communication.
• Promptly addressing customer complaints in coordination with Fleet Planning, Client Liaison, and Senior Fleet Management teams.
• Overseeing journey management, financial controls, and planning to ensure timely cash flow to drivers and service providers.
• Ensuring accurate fuel allocation and compliance with company procedures.
• Monitoring trip briefing and debriefing processes within 24 hours of loading or offloading, in line with company policy.
• Reviewing driver disciplinary escalations and managing truck handovers and deductions in collaboration with Driver Managers and Senior Fleet Manager.
• Facilitating clear vehicle fault reporting and conducting thorough accident and incident investigations with relevant teams to prevent recurrence.
• Consistently monitoring trips and vehicle tracking to avoid delays and ensure adherence to journey management plans and protocols.
• Accurately updating SAP and TMS online management systems in a timely manner.
• Ensuring all trips comply with legal requirements and that invoicing documentation is processed correctly.

Qualifications and Skills Required for Fleet Manager Jobs in Lusaka

Candidates should meet the following criteria to succeed in this role:

• A university degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent vocational experience in transport or logistics support.
• At least two years of relevant experience in fleet or logistics management.
• Proficiency in computer applications and online management systems.
• Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide team members effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for clear and candid information exchange.
• Exceptional management and administrative skills to ensure efficient resource use and accurate procedures.
• Problem-solving capabilities to overcome operational challenges.
• Desirable qualifications include LEAN Six Sigma, Project Management, Business Management, and Safety Management certifications.
