As the Manager – Financial Audits, you will play a pivotal role in planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring internal audit activities focused on financial audits. Your responsibilities will include training and evaluating audit staff, managing audit projects from entry to exit conferences, and ensuring that audit objectives align with the Internal Audit Charter and risk assessments. You will also be instrumental in developing risk-based annual audit plans and maintaining productive relationships across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the identification and evaluation of auditable areas and develop comprehensive, risk-based annual internal audit plans.
- Conduct and manage Entry and Exit Conferences for each audit project to ensure clear communication of audit objectives and findings.
- Develop detailed audit objectives, plans, and scopes that comply with internal policies and professional auditing standards.
- Schedule audits and allocate necessary resources to accomplish the approved audit plan effectively.
- Oversee audit assignments, including issue identification, evidence review, and documentation of client processes.
- Review and approve tailored audit programs to ensure thoroughness and prevent ineffective audit techniques.
- Supervise audit staff in conducting interviews, document reviews, surveys, and preparation of working papers.
- Manage the identification, development, and documentation of audit issues and improvement recommendations.
- Communicate audit results and collaborate with personnel to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and company policies.
- Present audit findings through written reports and oral presentations in a timely manner to management.
- Facilitate continuous professional development and training of audit staff.
- Represent the internal audit function on project teams and external engagements as delegated.
- Design the organizational structure and staffing of the audit unit to meet company objectives effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; or a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CA Zambia.
- Additional professional certifications like CIA, CISA, or CFE are advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in internal and/or external auditing.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience managing audit teams.
