Key Responsibilities
- Financial Transactions and Record-Keeping: Record financial transactions accurately following Good Neighbor Zambia’s procedures. Maintain organized filing of vouchers, receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation. Ensure all transactions are properly supported, authorized, and coded. Regularly assess administrative systems and recommend improvements.
- Payments and Account Reconciliation: Prepare payment vouchers, requisitions, and electronic payment documents for approval. Assist in processing statutory deductions including PAYE, NAPSA, and NHIMA. Support supplier payment processing and conduct monthly bank reconciliations. Follow up on outstanding items and discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
- Budget Monitoring and Reporting: Track expenditures against approved budgets to support budget monitoring. Assist in preparing financial reports for management, donors, and international headquarters. Provide necessary financial data and documentation for audits and reviews.
- Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to GNZ financial policies, donor requirements, and internal controls. Report any financial irregularities to the supervisor and support audit recommendation implementation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, ACCA Part II, or ZICA Licentiate.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in financial management and accounting, preferably within an NGO environment.
- Valid membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- Strong understanding of donor-funded project implementation and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a multicultural, international setting.
