About the Internship – Finance Officer Credit Controller Roles
This full-time internship, based in Lusaka Province, focuses on ensuring accurate collection, recording, and reporting of company invoices. Interns will play a key role in resolving client account discrepancies promptly while supporting the debt collection process in compliance with company policies. Key Responsibilities for Finance Officer Internship Jobs in Lusaka
- Prepare and distribute demand letters and disconnection notices accurately and on schedule.
- Monitor adherence to the debt collection policy, including escalation of cases to the I.S/Technical departments for service suspension and to the legal team for non-compliance.
- Regularly send payment reminders via email and phone calls in line with policy guidelines.
- Manage and close debt swaps and monitor client compliance with payment plans, recommending actions for non-compliance.
- Investigate and resolve irregularities or client account inquiries promptly.
- Collaborate with commercial, I.S., and technical teams to reconcile client service consumption with invoices.
- Distribute monthly invoices, assist with billing, and ensure timely reconciliation and corrections.
- Support payment receipting and bank reconciliation activities.
- Send quarterly balance confirmations and updated statements of account to clients.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Degree in Accountancy or Finance; ACCA, CIMA, or CA Zambia Level 2 qualifications preferred.
- Grade 12 School Certificate and membership in ZICA.
- Basic understanding of accounting and credit control principles, including accounts receivable and debt collection processes.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software packages; knowledge of Sage is an advantage.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills to manage client relationships and coordinate with multiple departments.
Experience and Additional Competencies
- Familiarity with credit control and accounting standards.
- Experience with general accounting procedures and data management.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks proactively and manage competing demands effectively.
