The International School of Lusaka is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Finance Manager. Key Responsibilities for Finance Manager Jobs in Lusaka

  • Advise the Head of School, senior leadership, and the Board Finance & Revenue Committee on financial strategy, performance, risk, and sustainability.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash-flow planning, scenario analyses, and long-term financial planning.
  • Prepare accurate management accounts, financial statements, variance analyses, and executive-level reports in a timely manner.
  • Oversee year-end reporting, external audits, and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls covering income, expenditure, procurement, payroll, banking, assets, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, and statutory obligations.
  • Manage tuition billing, receivables, credit control, supplier payments, refunds, and other revenue and expenditure processes.
  • Supervise treasury management, liquidity, banking arrangements, reserves, and foreign-currency exposure within approved policies.
  • Oversee payroll controls, statutory deductions, and collaborate with Human Resources on employee-related financial information.
  • Maintain an accurate fixed-asset register and controls over acquisition, custody, depreciation, insurance, and disposal of assets.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering accountability, accuracy, and professional service standards.
  • Enhance financial systems, reporting tools, data integrity, and process efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a directly relevant discipline.
  • Completed professional accountancy qualification such as CA Zambia, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent recognised by ZICA.
  • Current membership in good standing with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • Minimum of ten years progressive post-qualification experience in accounting and financial management.
  • At least five years in a senior financial leadership role with organisation-wide responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading and developing professional finance teams.
  • Substantial advisory experience to executive leadership and/or governing boards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cash-flow management, financial statements, and external audits.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, taxation, payroll, statutory reporting, and accounting standards.
  • Experience managing significant organisational budgets and revenue/expenditure streams.
  • Advanced skills in financial systems, spreadsheet analysis, and management reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce clear financial commentary and recommendations independently.
  • A relevant master’s degree and/or experience in a multicultural environment is advantageous.
