About the Finance Manager Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations. This includes managing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and driving efficiency in all financial processes. The position is a fixed-term contract and requires a proactive leader capable of ensuring adherence to statutory provisions and best practices.
Key Responsibilities for Finance Manager Jobs in Kafue
- Develop, review, and implement financial management policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with statutory standards.
- Lead and motivate the finance team to foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and implement strategic financial plans aligned with the company’s vision and national priorities.
- Oversee timely preparation and submission of financial reports, including quarterly management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Manage the annual budgeting process and monitor budgetary control to optimize resource allocation and cost control.
- Design and maintain effective internal controls to promote transparency and accountability.
- Manage risk mitigation strategies and respond promptly to audit queries with appropriate interventions.
- Enhance revenue collection through commercial strategy implementation and ensure accurate payroll management.
- Maintain an up-to-date asset register to ensure accountability of company assets.
- Continuously improve financial processes by leveraging technology and best practices to increase efficiency.
- Monitor and evaluate programme implementation and manage performance through individual work plans and the Performance Management System (PMS).
- Effectively manage human, financial, and other resources to meet departmental objectives.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 School Certificate with at least 5 ‘O’ Levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA, validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZQA).
- Associate Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) with a valid practicing license is required.
- Minimum of six years progressive financial management experience, including at least two years at senior management level.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), financial statement preparation, and relevant Zambian laws including employment, ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA, ZPPA, and Companies Act.
- Proficiency in computer applications and working knowledge of Sage 200 Accounting System.
- A master’s degree in business administration or related field is an added advantage.
