About African Parks and the Role

The Field Operations Manager will report directly to the Park Manager at Liuwa Plain National Park and hold full responsibility for managing infrastructure, fleet, logistics, law enforcement, and conservation activities.

Key Responsibilities of the Field Operations Manager

  • Develop and implement an integrated operations plan and budget aligned with park strategy and business goals.
  • Monitor and adjust operational plans as necessary to meet objectives.
  • Oversee infrastructure development and maintenance programs to ensure park facilities remain functional and safe.
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring cost control and adherence to procurement procedures.
  • Supervise law enforcement logistics, equipment provision, and staff training to maintain park security.
  • Oversee fleet management to guarantee compliance, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of fuel, spare parts, and operational supplies.
  • Manage logistics, procurement, and stock control systems, including supplier sourcing and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate conservation operations such as wildlife translocations and monitoring activities.
  • Manage aircraft usage for conservation and operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with African Parks policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Support and coach department heads to build a strong, value-driven team culture.
  • Provide accurate and timely operational reports to the Park Manager.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in conservation, wildlife management, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in similar roles within conservation or protected area management.
  • Experience working with non-profit organisations and multicultural teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven financial management, budgeting, and project management capabilities.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and resilience to work in remote environments.
