Empowering Farmers Foundation (EFF), a non-profit committed to enhancing rural livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and climate-smart initiatives, is seeking dedicated Field Extension Officers for multiple full-time positions based in Western Province, Zambia. This opportunity is part of EFF’s Cashew Tree Planting Project, aimed at promoting agroforestry and environmental conservation in local communities.
About the Field Extension Officers Jobs in Western Province Zambia
As a Field Extension Officer, you will play a vital role in mobilizing farmers, delivering technical training, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. Your efforts will directly contribute to the success of the cashew tree planting initiative and the broader goal of improving rural livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities
- Mobilize and register farmers participating in the cashew tree planting project.
- Deliver training on cashew establishment, management, and sustainable agroforestry techniques.
- Provide ongoing technical support and extension services to beneficiary farmers.
- Monitor tree planting progress, survival rates, and maintenance activities.
- Collect and accurately report field data and project outcomes.
- Coordinate distribution of seedlings and other essential project inputs.
- Collaborate with local authorities, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders.
- Support project monitoring, reporting, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Forestry, Agriculture, Agroforestry, Natural Resources Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, forestry, or agroforestry practices.
- Proven skills in community mobilization and farmer training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and travel extensively within rural areas.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Fluency in Lozi is mandatory.
- Applicants from or residing in Western Province will be given preference.
- Experience working with smallholder farmers, tree planting projects, or community development programs is advantageous.
