Farm Manager Jobs in Mazabuka – Lead a Premier Commercial Farming Operation
AMSCO Advisory Services Zambia is recruiting for a skilled Farm Manager to oversee a large-scale agricultural enterprise located in Mazabuka, Southern Province. About the Role – Farm Manager Jobs in Mazabuka
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Farm Manager will supervise the Cropping Supervisor, Equipment Operators, and General Workers. The position commences on 1st November 2026 and involves full-time responsibility for approximately 1,885 hectares of productive farmland, including:
- 850 hectares of winter wheat
- 1,000 hectares of summer crops such as soya beans, sorghum, maize, and cover crops
- 35 hectares of coffee plantations
The role requires hands-on expertise in large-scale wheat production and the ability to manage a diverse cropping portfolio with best practice knowledge throughout the crop cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement seasonal cropping plans in collaboration with the Managing Director and technical advisors.
- Coordinate timely land preparation, planting, irrigation, spraying, harvesting, and post-harvest handling activities.
- Manage procurement and application of fertilisers, seeds, pesticides, and other essential inputs.
- Supervise deployment of farm labour, ensuring clear task allocation, fair work practices, and accurate wage reporting alongside HR.
- Monitor workforce productivity and address any issues related to underperformance or absenteeism.
- Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to maintain and service all farm equipment and machinery regularly.
- Maintain comprehensive records on planting schedules, crop performance, input usage, labour deployment, and weather conditions.
- Submit detailed monthly farm activity reports including yield projections and operational challenges to the Managing Director.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and internal safety standards, including staff training on chemical handling and equipment use.
- Oversee harvesting to maximise yield and minimise losses, coordinating storage, drying, grading, and produce transfer.
- Liaise effectively with Logistics and Milling teams to meet raw material requirements and scheduling.
Key Relationships
- Internal: Managing Director, Workshop Manager, HR Manager, Transport & Logistics Manager
- External: Input suppliers, agricultural extension officers, inspection authorities
Performance and Remuneration
Success in this role will be measured against Key Performance Indicators directly tied to crop yields, quality standards, timely execution of farming operations, budget adherence, efficient input usage, and minimisation of losses. The Farm Manager will receive:
- Net monthly salary of up to USD 5,000 (converted at the prevailing Bank of Zambia mid-rate)
- Company-provided housing on-site
- Basic farm pickup vehicle
- Company pool health insurance coverage
