As Supervisor, Fabrication, you will lead and coordinate all fabrication and welding activities at the Fabrication Workshop, supporting site-wide operations. Your leadership will be key to delivering efficient cutting, grinding, and welding services for mining structures and components, while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities for Fabrication Supervisor Jobs in Kalumbila
- Plan, delegate, and supervise daily fabrication team activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Enforce adherence to safety, quality, and production standards within the workshop and across site areas.
- Monitor work progress, manage schedules, and implement quality control measures to meet company and industry standards.
- Manage employee performance, relations, and disciplinary processes following company policies.
- Control and track inventory of materials and consumables, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Industrial, and Mine regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate logbooks.
- Support continuous skills development and mentoring programs for fabricators, fostering team growth and competence.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator to support operational excellence.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of weld standards such as AWS D1.1, AWS D14.3, and AS-NZS 1554 Pt 1, including acceptance criteria.
- Proficiency in multiple welding processes: SMAW (MMA), GMAW (MIG/MAG), and TIGW (TIG).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings accurately.
- Experience working with PRONTO software and producing fabrication drawings for shop floor use.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication equipment including guillotine, break press, cutting, and gouging tools.
- Understanding of lifting, rigging, and non-destructive testing (NDT) processes.
- Strong communication skills in English, with an appreciation for diverse cultures and customs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 Certificate with 5 O levels.
- Fabrication craft certificate is required.
- Supervisory or leadership qualification (e.g., Business Administration, Leadership) is an advantage.
- Welding coding certificate mandatory.
- Valid driver’s licence and membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) are required.
- At least 5 years’ experience in custom metal fabrication, including a minimum of 2 years in a senior supervisory role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel, with strong organizational and project management skills.
