Role Overview: ESG Officer Jobs in Lusaka

This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate ESG initiatives at CCECC’s Lusaka office. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with Zambian environmental and occupational health and safety laws, as well as advancing corporate governance and sustainability practices across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate the Company’s annual ESG Sustainable Development Report.
• Collaborate with Production, Operations, Procurement, and Human Resources to embed ESG requirements into daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian environmental, occupational health, and safety (EHS) legislation and internal policies.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and employee training programs.
• Develop and implement anti-corruption risk prevention mechanisms and promote compliance through training and awareness initiatives.
• Design capacity-building and training programs tailored to local employees’ roles and competency needs.
• Support development and enhancement of ESG policies, management systems, and internal procedures.
• Prepare technical and compliance reports related to ESG performance for management review.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Sociology (community relations focus), Engineering Management, or related disciplines.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in ESG, EHS, sustainability, compliance, or related fields.
• Experience in road and bridge construction projects is highly preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Zambian environmental, health, and safety legislation and regulations.
• Strong skills in report writing, documentation, and policy development.
• Proven ability to establish and improve management systems and operational procedures.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks is an advantage.
