About Zengamina Power Limited
Established in 2007 as part of the Anzana Electric Group, ZPL operates a mini-grid powered by a 700kW run-of-river hydropower plant, supported by extensive sub-transmission and distribution lines. The company is currently expanding its capacity by adding a second 700kW turbine and a 1.2 MWac solar PV plant, targeting a total installed capacity of approximately 2.6 MW. This hybrid system will support the doubling of customer connections from 2,500 to 5,000 within the coming years. Recently interconnected with the ZESCO national grid, ZPL maintains dual-mode operation to serve local demand and export surplus power.
Engineering Manager Role – Engineering Manager Jobs in Ikelenge
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Engineering Manager will lead technical operations across generation, substations, and distribution networks. This role is vital to supporting system planning, grid expansion projects, and interconnection with the national grid. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong operational leadership and practical engineering expertise suitable for a growing rural utility.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a culture of health and safety across all technical operations.
- Coordinate network operations to ensure reliable power supply and meet company KPIs.
- Resolve technical and commercial customer complaints promptly.
- Oversee maintenance of generation, distribution, and supply infrastructure following best practices and company policies.
- Review and optimize distribution network expansion plans to support load growth and new customer connections.
- Manage procurement planning, spares inventory, and critical materials forecasting.
- Maintain an accurate asset register compliant with insurance and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and control budgets for technical teams to maintain operational costs within approved limits.
- Provide technical support for ongoing projects and lead coordination for grid interconnection activities.
- Ensure timely metering of customers and maintain distribution losses within KPI targets.
- Produce and distribute technical reports to key stakeholders on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with all company procedures, technical KPIs, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead teams responsible for network construction, plant operations, and maintenance, including development of standard operating procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Systems or Electrical Machines.
- Registration and good standing with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
- Proven knowledge of power generation, distribution systems, protection coordination, and renewable energy integration.
- Membership or affiliation with additional engineering professional bodies is advantageous.
- Minimum seven years of relevant experience in the Electricity Supply Industry, including at least five years in a leadership role managing distribution operations.
- Experience with projects financed by Development Finance Institutions is a plus.

Contract Details and Benefits
This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract position, renewable based on performance. The expected start date is as soon as possible, ideally within two months of appointment. Compensation will be competitive and aligned with market standards, including performance-based incentives.
