Role Overview: Engineer Technology Position

Reporting directly to the Reliability Coordinator, the Engineer Technology will lead initiatives focused on cost optimization, digital transformation, and product and process innovation across the site. This role involves identifying improvement opportunities, leading engineering projects, and integrating advanced technologies to enhance heavy mining equipment (HME) reliability, safety, and availability. You will also supervise Maintenance Dispatch Analysts and oversee real-time monitoring of the equipment fleet to minimize downtime and support production targets.

Key Responsibilities for Engineer Technology Jobs in Kalumbila

  • Identify recurring equipment failures and develop engineering solutions to mitigate these issues.
  • Develop and review asset maintenance strategies using Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Collect and analyze operational data utilizing Power BI, SQL, Smart Fleet, and Vision Link.
  • Create and maintain Power BI reports to monitor equipment KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, availability, work order compliance, and maintenance costs.
  • Identify and scope projects aimed at cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Lead engineering improvement projects and introduce new products or processes.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering for new implementations.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans in collaboration with Operations and Quality teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on fleet monitoring, maintenance coordination, and dispatch system usage.
  • Oversee real-time equipment status monitoring and ensure accurate reporting within dispatch platforms.
  • Support analysts in providing real-time operational assistance during equipment failures and communicate equipment status updates and expected return-to-service times.

Candidate Requirements

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mining or a related industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of reliability concepts including RCM, FMEA, and defect elimination.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP or Pronto.
  • Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
  • Possession of a valid Zambian driver’s license is an advantage.
