Electrical Technician Role – Specialized Electrical Technician Jobs in Petauke

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing solar-powered pumping systems and electrical infrastructure supporting our solar-powered piped water systems. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical assets through preventive and corrective maintenance, system performance optimization, and integration with remote monitoring technologies.

Key Responsibilities for Electrical Technician

• Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on solar PV systems, pumps, motors, controllers, switchgear, and electrical distribution networks.
• Inspect and maintain electrical systems critical to water supply and sanitation infrastructure, ensuring proper wiring, grounding, and protection.
• Diagnose and resolve faults using diagnostic equipment, optimizing system performance via Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) data.
• Support operation and maintenance of borehole, submersible, and booster pumps, as well as water treatment equipment.
• Adhere to electrical safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and comply with national electrical codes and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical mentoring to field technicians and coordinate logistics for spare parts and materials.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to performance reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, preferably with solar-powered water pumping systems.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing solar PV systems and electrical distribution, ideally within the WASH sector.
• Experience with Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) systems and donor-funded rural water O&M programs is advantageous.
• Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is required.
• Committed Christian with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Water Quality Specialist – Leading Water Quality and Safety in Petauke

This role leads the water quality testing, Water Safety Planning, and regulatory compliance across 78 solar-powered piped water systems in multiple districts including Petauke. The specialist will design and implement comprehensive monitoring and treatment programs, working closely with field teams and community stakeholders to ensure water safety and public health.

Responsibilities and Expertise Required

• Develop and manage water quality monitoring programs integrating field sampling, laboratory analysis, and chlorination system oversight.
• Lead Water Safety Plan implementation and ensure compliance with NWASCO standards.
• Operate and maintain water quality testing equipment and manage supplies.
• Train Water User Committees and field operators on water treatment and safe handling practices.
• Maintain detailed water quality datasets and contribute to performance and sustainability reporting.
• Degree in Environmental Health, Chemistry, Water Quality Management, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of water quality assurance, environmental regulations, and field laboratory operations.
• Valid driver’s license and proficiency in English; local language skills are an advantage.

Human Resource & Admin Officer – Supporting Organizational Excellence

Living Water International seeks a committed and experienced Human Resource & Admin Officer to manage HR and administrative functions at the project office. This full-time role supports workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, staff welfare, payroll coordination, and office operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and Zambian labor laws.

Core Responsibilities

• Serve as the HR focal point, implementing policies and managing employee lifecycle processes including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and separations.
• Maintain confidential personnel records and respond to staff queries with professionalism and discretion.
• Coordinate staff training, development, and welfare initiatives to foster a positive work environment.
• Oversee office administration, facilities management, travel logistics, and supervise administrative staff.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and support payroll and benefits administration.
• Prepare HR reports and assist in budget monitoring related to human resources and administration.
