Role Overview for Electrical Engineer Jobs in Ndola

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for executing scheduled preventive and unplanned maintenance activities, ensuring optimal machine availability and reliability. Reporting directly to the Section Head and Head of Department (HOD), the successful candidate will maintain comprehensive documentation of maintenance history, materials consumption, and labor utilization. This role includes analyzing shift reports to assess post-maintenance equipment performance and generating detailed power reports for plant machinery.

Additional responsibilities include tracking the performance of repaired equipment against planned targets, ensuring mean time between failures (MTBF) for electrical equipment, and supporting energy-saving initiatives within the plant. The Electrical Engineer will also plan spare parts requirements under HOD guidance, monitor inventory and maintenance costs, and provide on-the-job training for electrical technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive and unplanned maintenance, reporting machine availability and updating maintenance records.
• Request and manage spare parts requisitions necessary for repairs.
• Document maintenance activities and materials usage, reporting to the HOD.
• Analyze maintenance trends to evaluate equipment performance and reliability.
• Generate power and performance reports for plant electrical equipment.
• Monitor and compare equipment performance against targets to ensure MTBF standards.
• Lead energy-saving initiatives within the plant environment.
• Plan and control inventory for electrical spares and monitor maintenance costs.
• Provide practical training and mentorship to field technicians in electrical technology.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Automation.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant electrical maintenance experience.
• Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia is required.
• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent educational qualification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP applications.
