Oxfam GB is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Economic Justice Climate Coordinator to join our team across multiple Southern African countries. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to provide expert technical leadership and partnership coordination in advancing climate and economic justice initiatives in Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Role Overview: Economic Justice Climate Coordinator Jobs Southern Africa
As the Climate and Economic Justice Technical and Partnerships Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening Oxfam’s climate and economic justice portfolio across the Southern Africa (SAF) Cluster. You will provide advanced technical support and lead partner-facing coordination to ensure the delivery of high-quality, coherent programmes that address poverty, climate vulnerability, inequality, and economic injustice.
Working closely with partner organisations, country teams, and the Climate and Economic Justice Programme Manager, you will ensure that programmes are evidence-based, contextually relevant, and aligned with Oxfam’s regional priorities and systems-change agenda. Your role will also involve translating programme insights into regional advocacy and policy engagement, strengthening partner capacity, and ensuring donor compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical advice and leadership to partner-led climate and economic justice programmes.
- Coordinate programme implementation across multiple Southern African countries, ensuring strategic alignment and quality.
- Strengthen partner capacity and support adaptive management to respond to evolving challenges.
- Facilitate integration of programme evidence into regional advocacy and policy efforts.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, partners, and donors to uphold compliance and promote collaborative success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in climate justice, economic justice, livelihoods, environmental governance, and partner-led programme implementation.
- Proven track record in multi-country or regional programme coordination, technical advisory roles, and partner engagement.
- Strong expertise in integrating programme design with influencing and policy work.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Ability to build credible relationships with diverse stakeholders and work effectively in teams.
- Commitment to safeguarding policies to ensure safety and dignity for all individuals involved.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Portuguese language proficiency.
- Experience working within Southern Africa regional contexts.
- Familiarity with donor-funded restricted programming.
- Knowledge of policy influencing systems.
- Strong commitment to gender equity, diversity, and the empowerment of marginalized groups.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the region, sometimes on short notice.
